  2. #2 Best Colleges in MissouriUniversity of MissouriColumbia, MO·4 Year·Rating 3.75 out of 5 3,413 reviewsSenior: My overall experience at the University of Missouri has generally been good. There are plenty of opportunities to excel in academics, networking, and personal growth. The impetus is on you to take advantage of these opportunities! My first year at Mizzou was an especially trying year. It was 2020, so most classes were online. It was pretty difficult to make friends at the time. The campus felt incredibly different to what it would become in the future. In regards to academics, Mizzou gets a bad rap for being a party school but I argue otherwise. Mizzou has excellent faculty and students that make it an incredible university to attend. The core values of the university are Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, and Excellence. In your time at Mizzou, you will have to demonstrate and master all 4 of these values to crack the nectar of Mizzou and drink from its prosperity!... 3. #3 Best Colleges in MissouriSaint Louis UniversitySt. Louis, MO·4 Year·Rating 3.66 out of 5 2,181 reviewsOther: As a parent of a current student, I recommend SLU without hesitation to any other prospective families considering the university. Finding the right college is an exciting, yet overwhelming process for both the student and parents. We visited SLU, among many other schools, after our son was accepted. There are many reasons we chose SLU. First, we had a great meeting during our visit with a professor in our son's major. Him taking the time to meet with us (and on a weekend) demonstrated that professors truly care about students. The campus is beautiful. It has a park like setting within a city with plenty of green space, fountains etc.. . Campus felt welcoming and safe to us from the moment we stepped inside one of the many arches. There's also a nice grocery store along with the Foundry, where students can get snacks for their rooms or a bite to eat. Our son is challenged in his classes, likes his professors, and is having fun! So happy we chose SLU!... My major is Music Theater. The college has a work study program which helps students to be able to work for the tuition and graduate debt free. During the school year we work part time. During the summer we can work full time to pay for the upcoming school year housing and food. I work during the school year in the Theatre department. This works out very well for me since my major is Theatre. During the summer I have worked in different areas on campus depending on what is available. This summer I am working off campus as well. I am also in the college Chorale. I enjoy singing with the Chorale and plan to continue until I graduate. We sing for students and faculty, in the college Chapel on occasion and perform concerts for the community schools and churches. I have especially enjoyed the Theatre Company. I transferred at semester from a previous University after being unhappy with the atmosphere and education. After transferring, I quietly felt like I belonged; I knew that the environment of the University would allow me to thrive both academically and help in the future of my career. The education, the professors, and the overall welcoming atmosphere of the University have had a powerful effect on my academics and studying. I currently have a 4.0 and could not be happier with my professors and the wide variety of resources available for learning. Being a transfer student, I can attest to the tremendous academic learning environment UMKC offers. Many of my classes have study groups, and all my professors try to meet with all students if they need help in the course. Academically, I was challenged by dedicated faculty who integrated real-world applications into their teaching, particularly in my business courses. Beyond the classroom, I was actively involved in student organizations, which helped me develop leadership skills and a sense of community. The location in St. Louis provided numerous opportunities for internships and cultural experiences, complementing my academic learning. 11. #9 Best Colleges in MissouriMaryville UniversitySaint Louis, MO·4 Year·Rating 3.99 out of 5 722 reviewsJunior: So far my experience at Maryville University has been pretty great. I have met so many great friends, and this campus has allowed me to reconnect with old friends with it being so close to home. Almost every professor I’ve had has been amazing. I have had two concussions since being here due to athletics and the teachers and disability staff are super accommodating. However, the coaches on the teams (stunt and cheer) I was on dismissed my concussion and used it as an excuse to get mad at me or threaten my spot on the teams—both making me cry on several occasions. The campus/student life is not good in my opinion. There are not a lot of engaging events on campus, no parties nor many events that seem interesting. Bigger schools like mizzou have sororities and fraternities which Maryville lacks in. They should include Greek life into student life, and more people will get involved in campus events. Additionally, there are not many food choices, and sometimes the food is stale or soggy.... 12. #10 Best Colleges in MissouriWilliam Jewell CollegeLiberty, MO·4 Year·Rating 3.53 out of 5 380 reviewsFreshman: I really like William Jewell College, there are a lot of places to study and explore. The classes and the professors are really good. There are a lot of options for food, including machines to do late-night snacks. There are a lot of different events and if you plan to come go to music and theater events as possible as you can because they are really good, and are a great distraction from studying stress. The honors programs that they have are really good. If you want to challenge yourself and develop your academics you should try to enter it (Especially the Oxbridge program). The people are very kind and understandable and the health department for mental health is very nice. There are a lot of options to work on Campus. I just don't give 5 stars because the CTI classes, the ones everyone needs to do (Core curriculum), most of them, need to get better, but they seem to be working on it.... It was a smaller campus, near downtown Warrensburg which was very quaint. For being a small university, the overall atmosphere was very nice and the buildings were beautiful. I loved being able to walk around campus. Despite there not being a ton to do in the town, I think the school did an overall good job at having many options available for students. I also had a great experience with the professors and think that they were very available and generally cared for their students. Scheduling was easy for the most part- also. I think one of the only complaints I have was that I wished that the library would be open later than midnight! Overall though, I think that the school was wonderful. I have made friends that I will continue to do life with in the years following college. Part of the reason I made these friendships though would have to be because of the atmosphere fostered on campus. The students and faculty are amazing! To be surrounded by a faith-filled community not only has allowed me to build solid relationships but has allowed me to excel in my studies. To connect with people who share a common ground, yet be challenged by what they have built upon their foundation is a unique experience. I am engaging with my academics in a new way. One of the things I liked the most was the small class sizes, which made it easier to get to know the professors and get personalized help when needed. The campus itself is quite welcoming and has a friendly, community-oriented vibe. The staff were always supportive, and there were plenty of resources available for students, from tutoring centers to career services. However, there are a few areas that could use improvement. The course variety is somewhat limited, especially for more niche or advanced subjects. This sometimes made it challenging to find classes that aligned perfectly with my interests and academic goals. For instance, it was nearly impossible to believe that a typical American University should lag behind time consciousness during certain important programs run by the school despite, the Lecture times being strictly adhered to in most instances. I attend the campus in Columbia. The only thing i would like to be changed is the fact that most of the sporting activities are available at Moberly campus not Columbia campus. There are few sporting activities available here but i love volleyball and it isn't available here.I hope it would be available soon. Asides that, the campus has really good learning conditions and the people here are really nice.... 26. Ozarks Technical Community CollegeSpringfield, MO·4 Year·Rating 3.92 out of 5 778 reviewsSophom*ore: My experience at OTC has been a great one so far. 27. Southeast Missouri State UniversityDirect AdmissionsCape Girardeau, MO·4 Year·Rating 3.67 out of 5 1,122 reviewsSenior: I transferred to Southeast Missouri State my sophom*ore year of college. This transition was very smooth and the staff was able to set me up with an advisor immediately. I major in Communication Disorders-Speech Language Pathology and I couldn't ask for a better program. The professors want you to succeed and provide an immense amount of opportunities in and outside of the classroom. In addition to this, the Center for Speech and Hearing clinic is located on campus and undergraduates get to observe and eventually have client's of their own. This transition also went smoothly within greek life. I joined a sorority at my previous school and was able to transition into the same one here at SEMO! The Panhellenic community is so uplifting and reassures you that you are where you are meant to be....
