U.S. Factory Racing Team - Car Setups & Info (2024)

The Atomic MRX is our new 1:28 pan car series evolution which makes use of “Link-less Rear Pod” design; meaning the traditional side links are removed from the car.

The center pivot and bearing-supported rear guide rail system, inspired by RC helicopter tech is introduced, providing a bind free movement on all axis of the rear pod! This new system allows the driver to brake harder and accelerate earlier while offering greater stability and consistency when braking/accelerating and steering input overlap as the rear pod movement is independent from chassis roll.

You can feel the car drive more consistently and more predictable. Moreover, we do not have to worry about breaking side links during a race. One more benefit of the "Link-less Rear Pod" system is you do not have to worry about the battery wire interfering with the side links which often times result in the car having a tweak and not performing properly.

Other new features:

*Front Knuckle ball head position is 1.5mm pushed outward compared to MRZ SF or EX. Scrub radius is further decreased, and this will increase the corner speed and reduce the chance of traction rolls.

*Direct Drive Steering system: steering crank is removed to minimize play and slop from the system. You can feel the car steer more precise and react faster to your fingers.

*Caster angle adjustable: 0 or 2 degrees.

*New design battery mount which makes the change of batteries easier and does not need to remove the center damper anymore.

*Stock car comes with Brass chassis.

*Side wing can be added to the chassis plate to add stability (optional parts and assorted sizes of side wings will be available)

*Vertical side spring system conversion will be available as option.

*Rear Lexan body mount for touring bodies will be available too. (rear body post will not come out from side windows anymore)

*SF (simple front) and EX (double arm) suspension system will be available as option as well.

Tips from the Factory Team:

*Through extensive testing with our sample MRX cars we have found that the included Atomic S20 -1 offset wheels, as well as the optional -2 offset S20 wheels, provide the best performance for the experienced, highest performance seeking racers in 1/28th scale racing scene. The -1 and -2 offset front wheels were incorporated into the design of our new single arm front end to reduce scrub radius further than any of our MRZ line, and possibly any other chassis currently on the market. Our factory team has noted the increased corner speed and stability which is a result of the scrub reduction, resulting in faster lap times and higher consistency than we have seen in previous cars. (With this said, you can still use your current 0 offset wheels, however, this is at your own risk as you may run into servo damage if your wheels stick out beyond the sides of your body. Additionally, and you may not achieve the highest level of performance possible with this chassis.)

*Side Shocks: For best performance the side shocks will require regular maintenance, for example, removing and cleaning the shock body and piston, as well as regular intervals of grease application. In our testing we have found Atomic grease in 25,000-35,000 range, as well as Kyosho Blue in 30,000 range work great!

* We highly recommend completely glueing front and rear tires to the wheels for best performance. The Atomic S20 wheels are acetone safe so tire removal is simple, just get a jar of actentone and drop the tires/wheels into the jar and let sit for a day or so. The tires and glue residue will slide right off!

*We have found the MRX is not as sensitive to rear droop as other chassis designs and have been running as much as 1+ mm of droop on the rear of the car with great results, it feels similar to an AWD chassis on the track.

*More tips coming soon!!
