Amber Maternity Part 2 | Omaha Nebraska Maternity Photographer

This family is so close to my heart. I’ve truly been able to watch them grow together over the last 8 months I’ve know them. Amber has become such a dear friend and has taught me a lot about being a mom. Her love for Jace and David are amazing. I love that Amber opened my eyes to the world outside of hospital birth. I will be photographing the birth of her second baby boy any day now. I’m nervous every time my phone rings. I can’t wait to share in this intimate moment with their family and to see Amber’s face the first time she holds her new baby. It will be a moment of pure happiness. Thank you Amber, David and Jace for being so amazing. I love that you let me be the artsy photographer I am.

The session started with a book

Jace hates having fuzzies between his toes. It is so adorable.

The session ended with a book. This page of the book talks about connecting and observing your child as you see them for the first time.

Amber Maternity – Part I |Omaha Nebraska Maternity Photographer

I’ve returned to the blogging world. My husband and I spent new years in Indiana with our wonderful family. I’m truly blessed to have married into a family with two great parents in law. My father in law is truly an amazing individual. He has always been so supportive of my leap into photography. He has been encouraging about my business even when I feel I’m not where I want to be or booking at the rate of other photographers. It’s nice to know he is there for us no matter what life throws at us. Murray and my father-in-law bonded quickly. Murray was sleeping on his bed and taking over his desk chair in a matter of days. The cutest thing I saw on my entire trip was Murray sleeping in his lap while we watched tv.We also spent time with my mother in law, who is also known as the worlds best cook. I always leave her house happy and full of food. I have to say she is one of my blog followers and offers encouraging words to my posts. Murray had a great time playing with her two dogs and have a yard to run in.

The reason I’ve been unable to blog is after my 11 hour drive back from Indiana I ended up with the flu. I have not been this sick in a long long time. After two weeks of being sick I’m finally back up and running. Hopefully I won’t have anything else happen this year. 2010 got off to an interesting start.

Well Amber and I got together one day to have coffee and watch her son Jace play at the mall. While we were there we decided she needed a maternity session and I’m the lucky one she choose to photograph it. What I love about Amber is she is up for anything and always has great ideas. Her crazy idea was to shoot part of the maternity session outside at Standing Bear lake when the weather was in the single digits. I have to thank her for being so awesome and just trying something. The outside session was photographed quickly (in about 15 mins). After that we returned to her apartment for family photos (which I’ll be sharing in the next few days). For now enjoy her bravery and the beautiful outdoors aka the tundra.

Kendra | Omaha Nebraska Maternity Photographer

I went over to Kendra’s house on a beautiful November day. The sun was still shining outside and there was no snow on the ground. It was a little over a month till her little one was due. Now it is late December and there is a foot of snow on the ground!

Kendra and Shane are one amazing couple. They light up when they are together. I could tell how excited they were for the birth of their first little one. This session was incredible because Kendra was willing to try anything and was a natural model. Seriously so natural! This session is very special to me since it was my first maternity session. It was just as intimate as I imagined. I do not have children, but I can only imagine how it must feel to have a life living inside of you. I know Kendra and Shane couldn’t wait to meet their little one (they did not find out the sex before their baby was born).

I’m happy to report Kendra delivered Leila Harper at 1:40pm on December 14th (the day I posted my one photo, I guess I’m a little psychic j/k). Leila was named after her grandmother, which is beautiful.  Kendra is a glowing mother, just soaking in every little coo, smile and snore (she has the cutest little snore).  I already met little Leila and took her newborn photos. They will be up on the blog shortly. I was so happy to have the opportunity to spend time with Kendra and Shane. They are already wonderful parents loving on their little girl. Thank you Thank you for letting me photograph your growing family. You all are absolutely wonderful.

I will tell you I processed this session a little differently. For the indoor photos I wanted more of a film feel and texture. I love texture a little too much and I wanted there to be a certain emotion to the photos. The outdoor are more traditional and have the beautiful winter light (which I have not seen in a long time).

A little Sneak Peak | Omaha Nebraska Maternity Photographer

I normally wouldn’t just post one teaser image, especially since Kendra has been so patient. This session was done in early November, but with the crazy holiday rush I wasn’t able to give it the attention it deserved. I was working on it tonight and realized I wouldn’t be able to get the whole sneak peak posted, but why not post one image. More to come soon!
