Allie and Jesse

Allie is a good friend I met while working in Hartford, CT. When I first met her she told me about this guy she was crazy about named Jesse. The truth is these two have not had an easy relationship. They’ve spent the majority of it commuting from Nebraska to North Carolina then Connecticut to North Carolina, and then Nebraska to North Carolina again. When I would hang out with Allie she would talk about Jesse and how she wanted to be with him. Allie was patiently waiting for the day when they could finally be together. When they could laugh for hours and not have to worry about his return flight home. One July morning Allie heard a knock, when she opened the door she saw Jesse (of course she was in shock because he was not supposed to be there this weekend). Jesse said to her lovingly, “I woke up at 3am this morning to fly all this way to ask you a question.” He got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Of course she said yes and now they are getting married September 12th. I will not be photographing the wedding (tear tear), but when Allie asked me to photograph their engagement I said YES! We spent an amazing evening running all around her uncle’s farm. They are the goofiest and funniest couple you will meet. I’m so excited for them to start their life together. It’s been a long journey, but the distance only brought them closer together.

Ah..love…

Jesse as Caesar!

Brett and Scarlett | Lincoln Wedding Photographer

Scarlett and Brett have a cute story (it’s actually similar to my husband and I). They have different stories of exactly how and when they met each other. (I thought Josh and I were the only ones!)They met at a party at the University of Nebraska while they were studying there. There wasn’t an initial first attraction and they were both there for different reasons. It wasn’t until they took a trip to Milwaukee that moment where they fell in love.

They are both engineering majors and are currently living in two different states spending part of the week together. I loved seeing these two together. They challenge each other every day by having goofy competitions, like who can blow the most bubbles! Scarlett is the one who loves to talk. Brett appears quiet at first, but will have you laughing so quickly. They are opposites at first glace, but once you spend time with it you see it, that true connection. It is one where they will challenge each other and laugh for years. They will be the old couple in racing each other on who can cross the street the fastest and laughing the whole way.

When I first spoke to them over skype, I thought they were hilarious. It was like talking to old friends and at their engagement session it was hard to breakup the conversation to take photos. The three of us braved the heat on a HOT Friday, but we got ice cream to make up for the heat. Their wedding is going to be very beautiful and full of details. Of course two engineering majors would put 100% of work into the details.:)Wait till you see the save the date magnet. It is pretty awesome. I can’t wait till their wedding in May. It is going to be amazing!

Frances and Bruce | Omaha Nebraska Photographer

If you read Murray Monday this week, this is the engagement session I was talking about. Frances and Bruce have an incredible love. It took about 2 seconds for them to relax in front of the camera. They opened up to let me photograph who they are as a couple. We talked about our love for Scrubs, Sushi, biking and what is happening in life. Spending an afternoon with them felt like hanging out with old friends. I was so excited the whole session I was jumping around with excitment. (yes, I LOVE to be a dork.)

It’s funny because I remember the first time I met them, they were so sweet and quite. I was SO nervous. I rembering thinking how much I wanted to photography their wedding, but was nervous they would never hire me in a million years! I’m so blessed that they did.

Also, Frances is about to start her residency (she is going to be an AMAZING doctor). Her caring nature and sweet personality would make any patient comfortable. Bruce loves to bike, he has a hundreds of funny stories about his adventures and accidents that have happened in  places he’s gone.

Their wedding is in May and everyday I get more excited for it!!!

I love this one.

Love Love Love

I set up something that totally didn’t work, but I got this sweet photo of Frances. It’s she BEAUTIFUL.

Darrick and Haley | Omaha NE Wedding Photographer

What an awesome way to start off my 2010 engagement sessions! Haley and Darrick are incredibly in love. They GLOW when they are around each other. They met in college and have been together ever since. Darrick is currently living a couple hours away in Iowa and commutes to see Haley in Omaha every weekend. They have a passion for wine, traveling, cooking and eating amazing food (cheez its too!). I loved hearing about their adventures together and all the interesting things they cook. They have a true appreciation for wine so of course it was an important part of their engagement session. We started the session at Haley’s apartment. This was my first in home engagement session. It really gave me a sense of who they are as a couple and let me see pieces of their story I wouldn’t normally see. After some shots at home we headed downtown to Urban Wine Company. They were wonderful and even let us rearrange the furniture! After that we chased the sun to take a few photos downtown. I can’t wait for their wedding in July!!

I love this photo. This is probably what Saturdays are like at their place.

Haley just loves Darrick

This is their stuffed puppy. He is temporary till they get their own puppy.

Stephanie and Kevin | Omaha Nebraska Wedding Photographer

Stephanie first noticed Kevin from across the room at a college party. She noticed his cute mohawk and could tell he was different.  She wanted to walk over and talk to him, but was nervous. Her friends told her it was time to leave the party, she quickly walked by Kevin and said “Hi, I’m Stephanie. I have to go this way now. Bye!” Luckily that was not the end of their story. The next day they ran into each other and ended up hanging out and talking for hours. Since they’ve been together their relationship has only grown stronger. They’ve survived long distance with long weekends of driving back and forth and not seeing each other for weeks. These challenges have only made their relationship stronger and their love deeper.

Kevin is one of my good friends from Hartford. Since I was going to be in town I asked if they would be interested in a session in New York City (this was back in October, which is why there is such lovely light). Kevin and Stephanie are engaged and are getting married in October of this year. They have a wonderful photographer in Connecticut, but I’m glad I got to steal them for a day. I’m so happy my friend found someone who makes him happy. Stephanie is funny, gorgeous, loving, and just a lovely person. I hope I’m able to attend their wedding in October. I’m so glad to have friends like them in my life. I can’t wait to see you again soon.

I love this one. The texture, cute couple, and the light.
