Brett and Scarlett | Lincoln Wedding Photographer

Scarlett and Brett have a cute story (it’s actually similar to my husband and I). They have different stories of exactly how and when they met each other. (I thought Josh and I were the only ones!)They met at a party at the University of Nebraska while they were studying there. There wasn’t an initial first attraction and they were both there for different reasons. It wasn’t until they took a trip to Milwaukee that moment where they fell in love.

They are both engineering majors and are currently living in two different states spending part of the week together. I loved seeing these two together. They challenge each other every day by having goofy competitions, like who can blow the most bubbles! Scarlett is the one who loves to talk. Brett appears quiet at first, but will have you laughing so quickly. They are opposites at first glace, but once you spend time with it you see it, that true connection. It is one where they will challenge each other and laugh for years. They will be the old couple in racing each other on who can cross the street the fastest and laughing the whole way.

When I first spoke to them over skype, I thought they were hilarious. It was like talking to old friends and at their engagement session it was hard to breakup the conversation to take photos. The three of us braved the heat on a HOT Friday, but we got ice cream to make up for the heat. Their wedding is going to be very beautiful and full of details. Of course two engineering majors would put 100% of work into the details.:)Wait till you see the save the date magnet. It is pretty awesome. I can’t wait till their wedding in May. It is going to be amazing!

Julie Branyan Photography will be Relocating | Phoenix Wedding Photographer

Josh and I are starting a new adventure in our life. Right now, it seems exciting, scary, stressful and a mix of emotions. Life has thrown a lot at us the last couple of months while we were deciding which route to go. Ultimately, we decided the best decision for us is to be closer to family. Over the last five years since we’ve been together, we’ve been far away from those we love. It’s difficult not to have a support system and people to laugh with during the holidays. I know we are making the right decision, but at the same time it’s hard to look ahead and know everything will be ok.  I’ve been praying for awhile that God would lead us where he wanted us to go.
The decision we’ve made is to move to Phoenix, Arizona to be with our family. The move will happen August 31st.  I will be jobless for awhile and hopefully be able to persue photography full time. I’m following a dream to do what I love and change my small piece of the world.  I’m not sure what God has planned for us and it may require me having another job, but I’m willing and ready to follow him.
I’m so happy we ended up in Omaha for the last two years. We’ve met amazing people, I’ve had the opportunity to do what I love, and grow as a photographer. If you’re ever in Arizona make sure to let me know!
To quote one of my favorite show Scrubs: I’ve been thinking a lot lately about taking chances, and how it’s really just about overcoming your fears. Because the truth is, every time you take a big risk in your life, no matter how it ends up, you’re always glad you took it. –JD
Update: I’m still accepting weddings and family sessions in Omaha. I will be back throughout the next year. I’ll be offering family mini sessions in October so everyone can have photos done before Christmas. Please email me if you are intersted at julie@juliebranyan.com

And that’s when I Snapped | Phoenix Wedding Photographer

Today I went and got my hair did by my amazing friend, client, and hairstylist Megan (she is the best stylist ever). Josh and I are getting our photos taken on Sunday and my hair needed some major help. The last time I had time to get my hair done was April!! So when I got there Megan goes, “I got you something, it is dorky.” Of course I replied, “oh, I LOVE dorky.”I opened the bag to find the coolest shirt ever that said, “And that’s when I snapped.” It has a photos of a camera on it too. When I got home I put the shirt on and made Josh take photos of me. Yes, I’m that dorky and a camera shirt makes me happy! I have the best clients ever. So here is to Wednesday, having rocking hair, and getting the best shirt ever! Thank you Megan!

You know you want one too!

I can’t be serious in front of the camera I just laugh. Also, yes, my face is out of focus, but my shirt is in focus so that is all that matters!

Just a fun one of me rocking my new hairstyle.

Bryce, Abby, Bella, and Lola | Omaha Wedding Photographer

This session was a lot of fun. We got some cute photos in a short amount of time due to the mosquitoes eating us alive. I got home covered in bug bites from the super mosquitoes who were not even resistant to insect repellent!  Bella is such a sweet heart. She loves to dance, run and always be on the move. The youngest Lola has the sweetest expressions and enjoys exploring the world around her. Her expressions just made me laugh while I was editing the photos.

Little baby toes. Love them!

Her expressions are adorable!

I love this face!

Erin Bridal Session | Omaha Wedding Photographer

As promised, here are more photos from Erin’s bridal session. She is officially a married woman as of Saturday! Congrats Erin!

I had a few people ask me what is a bridal session. It is a chance to put on your dress before or after your wedding to take some photos of you looking fabulous (it’s basically an excuse to put on your dress one more time and take extra photos). The wedding day is always very rushed and there is not always time to get all those photos you would like at different locations. For Erin’s session we went to Elmwood park, the Magnolia hotel, and borrowed a good friends roof to see downtown.

On a personal note, I spent today recovering from the weekend and catching up on a few items. Working in the heat all weekend was exhausting, but I got some amazing photos I can’t wait to share. I’m excited for what this year and next year have in store for me. Hope everyone has a lovely week!
