Megan and Corey Part I | Omaha Nebraska Wedding Photographer

In this day of technology, we forget how to express ourselves openly. I see a lot of couples who are afraid to show the world their amazing love. Corey and Megan are not one of those. This wedding was filled with pure emotion. From the start of day with the exchanging of gifts, a sweet moment between Megan and her dad, Megan walking down the isle, and Corey singing a beautiful song to his new bride.

When Megan walked down the isle, the whole church was in tears (including myself). Corey’s expression tells it all. Anyone can see when they look at each other how happy and in love they are. They couldn’t wait for the moment to be husband and wife to share even more moments together.

I’m happy I could be there to share in this day. I’m so blessed to document a love like theirs. I hope I can know them for years to come so they will remind me to show love and let down walls that stand in the way.

I will be posting the reception and detail photos in part two. (coming very soon!)

After the ceremony we headed down to the walking bridge for a few photos.

New Business Cards | 101 Goals in 1001 Days

I’m super behind blogging 101 Goals in 1001 Days. Since January I’ve accomplished 10 goals (two behind where I should be) and over the next two weeks I’m going to catch up!! The majority of the 10 goals (specifically this one), I accomplished with the help of my amazing graphic designer, Michelle, aka a Girl named Fred. I love working with her more and more everyday. She’s changed the face of my business and it’s the best investment I’ve made. While I could have done a terrible design job myself, I realize the value of hiring a professional. Michelle has a great love and passion for her work.

Here are the fabulous business cards she created. There are more amazing things she designed that will be coming up!

This photo doesn’t show how lovely they are! Wait till you see them in person.

Jet Lag Made Me do it | Murray Monday

Jet Lag made me do it…

I’ll be the first to tell you that I’m a little clumsy and that my brain is going a million miles  an hour. I’m normally in my own world thinking of all the things I need to accomplish for the day. The problem is jet lag made it a million times worse than usual and I always had the feeling of being in a constant haze.

Five days after I returned from Japan a lady from work asked if I wanted to go get breakfast in the cafeteria. Of course I was craving a delicious bagel and wanted a few minutes away from my desk. We walked into the cafeteria, I grabbed my bag and a cup of tea. My friend grabbed her food, paid, and was waiting for me. I prepared my bagel and quickly prepared my tea. All I thought was she is waiting for me. I rushed past the line to meet her and we walked back to the building.

On the walk back I had that feeling where I knew I forgot to do something. The whole time she was talking my brain felt something was off…. hum… All the sudden it hit me… I  didn’t pay for my breakfast. I had just stolen my food aka preformed a dine and dash. I panicked for a second and was in shock that it actually happened. I admitted my sin to my friend. She laughed and laughed. Who unknowingly steals their breakfast? Well, I guess I do.
I’m happy to report I did go back that week and pay for my stolen food. It’s just bad karma to realize you stole something and not go back.

Mike, Elizabeth, Brady and Sage

You might remember Elizabeth, Mike and Brady from their engagement/family session here and Elizabeth and Mike’s wedding here. My favorite thing about this job are the amazing friends I have made. Every time I see Elizabeth and Mike we just start talking again like old friends. Elizabeth and Mike were one of the first clients I had who believed in me as a photographer and I think saw more potential in me than I did in myself. It’s been 7 months since the last time I photographed their wonderful family. Brady remembers that I was one the who took photos at his parents wedding. He has such an inquisitive heart and is always looking at everything and asking questions. He loves to tackle his Dad (which I suggested this time, Poor Mike!). He also plays every sport imaginable and is awesome! I’m facebook friends with Elizabeth and Mike and I see the videos they post of Brady playing basketball or soccer. They also brought along their adorable dog Sage. He has become an even greater part of the family over the last couple of months and they are happy to have him around.  I’m so excited that I’ve had the chance to photograph them as they grow together. I can’t wait to see you all in a couple of weeks at Frances and Bruce’s wedding.

On a personal note, please keep Josh and I in your thoughts and prayers this week. I can’t specifically give details, but we are making a lot of difficult decisions. We appreciate them so much! Have a wonderful week!

I’m not gonna lie…. Murray Monday

I’m not gonna lie, I made a huge American mistake here in Japan. It was truly one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. One of those moments where you want to curl up in a ball and disappear.

I’ve always considered myself to be a clumsy person and I admit on occasion I’m in my own little world. At the train station Maki (my good friend Jason’s Japanese girlfriend) and I decided we had to use the restroom before heading out of the station. Jason and his cousin Neil patiently waited for us. In Japan they have Japanese and western style toilets. Google Japanese style toilet if you want to see the craziness. Maki was kind enough to let me use the Western style toilet (thank goodness). After using the restroom I noticed a green push button, which I thought was to flush the toilet. I pushed the button, all the sudden lights are flashing and there is a LOUD buzzing. I thought that can’t be me, no way did I just push a button that is causing all this. I pushed it again to see if it will stop, it doesn’t. I hurry out of the bathroom and women are starring. Maki comes out of the bathroom and looks at me. I told her I pushed a button and sounds went off. She laughs and tells me this is the Emergency button. We laugh as the station attendant runs in. Maki tells her in Japanese, No problem. We walk out of the bathroom, Maki laughing as I’m shielding my face from embarrassment.

Neil and Jason are very confused by all the commotion. Apparently they saw the station attendant run full speed through the station to the bathroom. I’m sure she was disappointed to find no emergency and a dumb American girl causing problems.

So the lesson is do not assume a button is to flush the toilet in Japan. More than likely it is the emergency button that sounds off the alarm in the whole building.

On that note I’ll share a few photos I’ve taken while I’ve been here.
