Jack | Omaha Nebraska Photographer

Last Sunday I woke up early to go spend the morning with Jack and his parents. I realized when you don’t have kids you have the joy of sleeping in till late in the afternoon. I’m so glad the sun came out for awhile during the shoot because the light turned out beautiful in the pictures.

Jack has one cool personality and style too. Jack and I were wearing matching chucks.  He definitely is one independent kid. His mom is pregnant with their second child so Jack is about to be a big brother!

During the shoot his parents and I had a fun time keeping up with him. My legs were sore the next day. I know they must be in excellent shape.

Thank you so much for letting me spend the morning with you.

ShootDay | Omaha Nebraska Photographer

Saturday I drove down to Kansas City for ShootDay. It was held by two amazing photographers Josh Solar and Kelley. I was super nervous when I got there that I almost forgot my name and how to use a camera. Heather Cole was the special guest. I saw her work for the first time this week and it rocks. They were all so nice and welcoming. The entire day was inspiring and I learned some tips too.  The couples they had for the session were very comfortable in front of the camera and gorgeous! I can’t wait for the next shootday, even if I do have to drive 3 hours on way.

An Iowa Adventure | Omaha Nebraska Photographer

My husband has been out of town for the last week so I decided it was time for a road trip. On Saturday I grabbed my camera, jumped in my civic and headed to Winterset, Iowa. You are probably thinking, why Winterset? Well, long story short, my mom was born in Iowa and spent the first couple years of her life on a farm in Winterset.

It took an hour and forty-five minutes to get to there. I thought I would drive in and just magically find a farm I didn’t have the address for. After 20 minutes of driving around dirt roads, I decided to call my Grandmother. She hasn’t been there in 20+ years, but her memory is awesome and she guided me to the farm. It is kind of sad because the house they lived in has been torn down and rebuilt. When I arrived at the house a dog ran directly toward me. My first thought was this is going to end with a bite or a lick. Luckily he ran up to me and licked me hand. The dog then followed me around the farm land. I took several pictures of him. It was hilarious because every time my camera made a noise he would search frantically for it.

Then I headed over to Roseman Bridge. I had the bridge all to myself. I even had to lay in the mud to get one shot. My whole car was covered in mud by the end of this trip. I finally headed to the downtown area. It was deserted due to the cold weather and since the shops are closed on Sunday. I learned a lot about my family and where they came from. I can’t wait to make a trip with my husband this spring.

This is one of my favorites. It looks like you are going towards the light.

Saturday at Our Place | Omaha Nebraska Photographer

For Christmas I bought my husband a subscription to Entertainment weekly. At the time I didn’t realize how important it is to him. Every Saturday afternoon he runs down to the mail box and gets the magazine. For the next hour he reads it from cover to cover  and I do not hear a peep from him. This is very unlike Josh because he loves to be the center of attention (which normally involves bothering me).   I decided I would share a photo of him enjoying his Saturday with his beloved magazine. He didn’t notice I was in the room taking pictures because he was in the zone.

The many faces of my husband | Omaha Nebraska Photographer

Well it’s been over a month since I’ve posted a blog. The last month was a blur with editing, traveling, and trying to catch up. I spent a week in Hartford for work. I had mixed emotions going back to a city where we had a difficult year and a half. Overall it was a good exhausting trip. I was able to hang out with my best friend Maly and friend Kevin. I also got to see my nieces who are very cute and I went to my god brothers wedding reception. I will have a few pictures to post once I finish editing them. My poor husband has been sick for the last week and then this week he had his wisdom teeth taken out. I’ve been doing my best to take care of him. Since he hasn’t been feeling well I decided to work on a few goofy pictures I took of him around Christmas. My husband loves to be in front of a camera and his true goofiness comes out. He is a good model to have around.

I tried a different processing type here. I think it turned out well.
