Jennifer and Alex | Omaha Nebraska Wedding Photographer

Jennifer and Alex recently moved to Omaha from Oregon. They contacted me to do their engagement pictures. We spent the afternoon in Old Market and were lucky enough to have a warm afternoon. By warm I mean high 20s, but I will take it any day over the single digits.

Jennifer and Alex are a great couple. I can see the love they have for each other. Jennifer’s face lit up every time Alex made her laugh . His favorite part of the shoot was getting to kiss her (He was excited to learn a photography session is basically a make out session). I hope you have a wonderful wedding this summer. Please make sure to share your pictures with me.

Thank you so much for letting me spend the afternoon with you.

Cal | Omaha Nebraska Photographer

Abbie and Josh have been friends with my husband for years. I’ve finally had the opportunity to get to know them and their three month old son Cal. They are amazing parents, the best I’ve ever seen and being around them almost (key word here in case the family reads) gives me baby fever. Cal is always moving around. The older he gets the harder it will be for his parents to keep up with him. Poor Cal didn’t know what to think of my camera. By the end of the day he was thinking, “hey lady, get that thing out of my face.”

Thank you so much for letting me spend time with you all. I can’t wait to have another session in a couple months.

Brandon and Courtney | Omaha Nebraska Photographer

Brandon and Courtney are celebrating their one year anniversary this month. It is a perfect time to get together and take pictures. I admit it was hard to select only a few to post on my blog. I wanted to post the whole session.

They are a cute couple. Brandon always had Courtney laughing. To quote Freaks and Geeks, “Get a woman laughing, you got a woman loving.”
We started out in downtown, then went to the library, and finally ended at their beautiful home(When I have a house one day I hope Courtney will come decorate for me). It was freezing outside at the courthouse. They were both awesome though. Thank you guys for freezing with me. You were so much fun to work with. I can’t wait to see you again soon.

To a New Year…. | Omaha Nebraska Photographer

dsc_0371ewb

2008… There are many things I’ve learned from last year. My whole life changed in a moment. I relocated to Omaha, got married, and started a new life in a city with no familiar faces. I thought I would take time to briefly highlight what I’ve learned from last year and my life goals for years to come. What I’ve learned:

  • Always let people know how much you truly love and appreciate them. The second you stop showing them this is the moment you could lose them.
  • Don’t let the little things in life get to you whether its a job, city, or anything else you don’t enjoy. I’ve learned how to better manage after two years of working in the corporate world.
  • You are never stuck. This was a hard one for me to learn because when you feel stuck its hard to find the right thing to shake you out of it. I was able to move out of Hartford all the way to Omaha, NE where I found myself again.
  • Find your passion and go for it. Don’t let anyone say it isn’t a viable option. I’ve spent years of my life getting confirmation for everything from everyone. Photography is the one thing I decided to go for and not look back. This is it sink or swim. I’ve already got my head above the water. Lets see where this journey takes me!
  • Things are not always supposed to work out. For the right thing to come along you have to be patient and sometimes pass on an opportunity.
  • Be thankful for the wonderful people who come into your life even if they only appear for a moment. I’ve met the best people in every city I’ve lived in. They have all changed my life and I’m thankful for them all. The kindness of others amazes me daily.
  • Laugh. It just makes things better.

Life Goals (condensed version):

  • Tell my husband I love him everyday and show him how much I care.
  • Grow my photography business. I realized my passion for working with people the second I had my first shoot. There was a magic in capturing the moments of others. To see the love people have for one another. They will have these moments preserved through pictures for a lifetime.
  • Don’t be afraid to fail. When it happens pick yourself up and move on. To quote C.S. Lewis, “Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement.”
  • Run a half marathon (after this I plan to be on my way to a marathon). First I need to start running on a daily basis.
  • Spend more time with family and tell them how I appreciate them.
  • Improve upon my public speaking abilities. I’d like to be able to be in front of a group of people without having the urge to run off the stage screaming.
  • Drink water. It sounds odd, but some days I run on a couple sips.
  • Workout five days a week for a month. (this is going to be a rough one)
  • Travel to every continent. Greece and Egypt are at the top of my list.
  • Be the positive happy goofy person I am. (just a reminder)

This is a short list, but I plan to continue to update it. One last thing, Orchard Cove Photography had a wonderful zen quote on her page, it said “leap and a net will appear.” It is beautiful. It is my quote for this year. Whenever I have moments of doubt it reminds me to keep pressing on. I hope everyone has a happy new year.
